Description
This Badge is issued to Representatives for information and services (RIF) for the Federal Portal of the University of Turin, who are responsible for assisting the SPO Management in running the WiFi service and land line telephone service. The Network, Wifi and VoIP RIF handle troubleshooting, both on the workstations and the racks within their own structure. This Badge gives validity to the individual competencies of the Network, Wifi and VoIP RIF.
Badge Criteria
This Badge is issued to employees of the University of Turin who have been officially appointed as Representatives for information and services (RIF) for the Federal Portal for the Network, Wifi and VoIP service and have participated in the training course. The Badge certifies successful completion of the course and passing of the final examination, which consists of an online test and an interview: it demonstrates knowledge of reference documentation and ability to ensure proper fulfilment of the role.
Skills
The holder of this Badge has already acquired the "Representatives for information and services-Federal Portal " Badge and therefore possesses the valid competencies. The holder of this Badge also carries out the following activities: carrying out technical analysis of the requirements/demands of his or her own structure, concerning WiFi cover; acting as spokesperson for cases of extending or upgrading the network within his or her own structure; knowing the layout and organisation of the local network in the areas under his or her control; acting independently in operations for connecting workstations and devices to the network, on the premises of his or her own structure; keeping account of active workstations and paying attention to removal of connections that are no longer active; keeping the racks in order and, regarding proper operation of the University’s VoIP telephone system, checking connections in the racks as well as carrying out preliminary inspection in the event of malfunction; keeping track of IP’s assigned to devices being used within the structure under his or her control; acting as local reference figure for notifications of problems regarding the security of IT systems and network access; in the event of malfunction, carrying out a preliminary analysis of the reasons for the malfunction and carrying out standard procedures for resolving cases; knowing the positions of the access points of his or her own structure; fostering knowledge of solutions and services that are already available within his or her own Organisational Unit.
